Stosur has reportedly withdrawn. She said during her presser yesterday her arm was heavy and that she was going to have tests done today.
Sam Stosur needs two weeks rest to overcome an arm injury
August 10, 2010

SAM Stosur is in danger of dropping out of the world top five because of an enforced injury rest recommended by doctors.

The French Open finalist will not play in Cincinnati this week, and then Montreal because of an arm injury sustained at Stanford a fortnight ago, then aggravated in San Diego last week.

The decision was made after consultation with her doctors.

"I had an MRI on Friday afternoon and the doctor advised me to rest my (right) arm," the world No 5 said on the Tennis Australia website.

"It's very disappointing for me because I was really looking forward to playing."

The next five women ranked below Stosur on the WTA list -- Elena Dementieva, Kim Clijsters, Francesca Schiavone, Vera Zvonareva and Agnieszka Radwanska -- are all playing. They are all seeded in the top eight and have a bye for the first round.

Russian Dementieva needs only to win her opening second-round match to go past Stosur. Clijsters will jump the Australian as well if she wins two matches.

Montreal replaces the Toronto WTA event last year, where Stosur reached the quarter-finals and as a result the Australian forfeits 200 ranking points. All indications are Stosur will be right for the US Open starting in New York on August 30. She reached only the second round last year, so does not have a host of points to defend.
