Very nice seeing Jidkova's name in the qualy draw. But you gotta wonder (and I don't say this to slight her, because I like her) where does the drive come from at this stage of your career? She's 33 and hasn't made it to a main level WTA match all year (she has not won a WTA level main draw match since the old Quebec City event back in the fall of 2007). She mixes ITF events with attempts to qualify into a number of tour events each year. Stanford qualies is the 14th event she has entered this season. Her record for the year is 7-13. Yet she finds the motivation to pick up and move on to the next city week after week, while not even (seemingly) making enough money for airfare to the next tournament.
