2010 final: Argentina versus USA

Argentina and the USA will meet in the final of the 33rd World Team Championship at the Duesseldorf Rochusclub on Saturday. Argentina qualified in the “final” of the Blue Group by defeating France 2-1, while the Americans ousted the Czech Republic 2-1 in the Red Group. The South and North Americans have played each other ten times so far at the ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP – though never in the final. The USA won nine times, the Argentines just once (2004). The USA also won their last encounter 2-1 in 2008. The Americans have reached the final for the eighth time and now have the chance to become the sole record winners of the event if they achieve their fifth title on Saturday. They triumphed in 1982, 1984, 1985 and 1993. The Argentines will play their sixth final at the Rochusclub. They won in 1980, 2002 and 2007 and lost in 1989 and 2005 – both times to Germany.(pps)
