I've lot of respect for Gil after that match against Nadal in Miami. Is he the highest ranked Portuguese ever on the men's side?

It's good to listen that. He had a bad phase and left top100. Gil is the best Portuguese Player and Machado is the second best.

What happened then???

Gil comes off as a really nice guy. Great interview, totally opposite to how volatile he is on court. And he's fun to watch.
