All these players lost early, except for Wozniacki, who is the tour's new Jelena Jankovic. I'm suprised Pennetta is playing here when there's a perfectly good clay court tournament happening just on the other side of Europe.

Pennetta has a bizarrely huge number of points to defend on US hard courts, so I guess she's prepping for that.
