Given the questions about Nadal's knee, it's appropriate that Roddick is in that quarter. He'd be a very suitable replacement for Nadal in the semis (and a patsy for Fed in the finals, if it comes to that). But if Nadal withdraws before they begin play, would they jig around the draw, with Del Potro moving up to Nadal's spot?
Yes.
someone posted the procedure the other day. If Rafa withdraws before play begins, #5 seed takes his spot in the draw, #17 moves to the spot vacated by #5, and the player next to be seeded (#33) moves to the spot vacated by #17. A lucky loser gets the remaining empty spot.
