I care.
This is the French Open. One of 4 slams. This is the finals where two players will bash it out or screw it up in order to take the title of Champion and a cool 1 million dollars. What's not important?
I think it is tasteless and disrespectful to come up with these kind of proclaimations and articles right when the final is going to happen. If the writer of that article is so bored with women's tennis, well then, he doesn't have to watch does he?
And tennis...for those of us that are TENNIS FANS...and not casual observers / followers of the sport....tennis will always have it's thrills, even when Sharapova and the Williams Sisters retire. I bet there were people who thought tennis couldn't survive after Martina Navs, BJK, Chrissie and Steffi.....but look! And we have a whole crop of youngsters that are itching to take over the reigns of the top of the tennis world and every year, every other year...we get a new crop. Even if they don't perform the way we want them to....they are there. Tennis will go on. And it will STILL be exciting.
No matter your name...no matter how known, unknown you are, no matter how old, how young, what country you re from, no matter your RANKING....if you SURVIVE SEVEN ROUNDS OF tennis in the conditions that players battled at Roland Garros....hell you deserve to be called a Champion and you deserve to have everyone recognize that you are a champion. Tennis will go on
Seven years from now...they will be saying the same thing about Ana, Jelena, Dinara and maybe even Azarenka
