Monique Adamczak AUS v Sesil Karatantcheva BUL (20)

Julia Schruff GER v Evgeniya Rodina RUS (24)

Elena Bovina RUS v Eleni Daniilidou GRE

These look like the best three match ups for the first round of qualies. Sesil should be able to take out the young Adamczak, but I wouldn't be surprised at a three setter.

Julia Schruff took out Dementieva a few years ago. She could cause an upset.

Bovina against Daniilidou! I'm so excited that one of them will win a round. Two injured veterans duking it out. I hope whoever wins the match up can make the main draw.
