This is news to me because I already thought Sharapova was out. I don't know why. Maybe I made it up in my mind? I do that sometimes.

Folks who are supposedly more familiar with shoulder injuries are saying that it must be more serious than Maria and her camp is letting to know if she had to have a surgery. In more serious cases a normal recovery time could be as much as 12-18 months and often even that doesn't help...

By the way I bookmarked this post at wtw (#36) dealing with technical aspects of Maria's game and why she is so prone to injuries. It's well above my ability to dissect, but perhaps some you who play regularly and/or have some background in medicine can.
