Some players manage to win GS without ever acquiring champion's mentality. It's very rare, but it does happen. Novotna was like that too.

Of recently active women, I can only think of five that have a real champions mentality--Justine, Venus, Serena (when she cares), Lindsay, and Sharapova. Of the men, there's only Roger and Rafa (but I think Murray will get there; still not complete sure about Nole). Before them, you have to go back to the likes of Sampras, Agassi, Courier, and the rest of that bunch. Lots of guys won a major, but mostly by accident.
