Rafa played the Chennai final on no legs whatsoever even though everyone thought he'd give Mikhail Youzhny the walkover for the Final. Rafa doesn't withdraw unless he's got to. I know a lot of people don't believe this but it's true.

Don't forget this was an Olympic year so there was one extra event in the mix.
I'm not at all saying he's actually fit enough to play but he isn't, or that he's faking, or something like that. I fully sympathize with his injury and it's really a pity that the top player won't be in Shanghai. What I wanted to say was that I think it's a bit arrogant for Rafa to claim that he's doing sort of a heroic duty for the ATP by spending his body on so many matches. Others have played more matches in total and not complained (at least publicly) as much.
