It was a longstanding trend that a coach in his first playoff game as the headman would lose that game. Mike McCarthy broke that trend in 2007, and I haven't really watched it much since, but Mike Kubiak is poised to do it again.

Schwartz and Harbaugh get their shots this weekend as well.

Sean Payton did it in 2006.
Mike Tice did it in 2004.
Jim Mora, Jr. did it in 2004.
John Fox did it in 2003.
Mike Sherman did it in 2001.
Gruden did it in 2000.
Billick did it in 2000.
Fisher did it in 1999.

John Harbaugh did it in 2008.
Jim Caldwell did it in 2009.

I don't feel like looking up other coaches.
