I'm in favor of getting the call right, all the time. I've long been a proponent of having an extra ref in the booth - and if an egregious call is missed (regardless of any coaching challenge), it should be corrected immediately. I understand the hockey system, but I'm not familiar enough with the game to know how/when reviews occur. Is it only on goals? Whether it's centralized or distributed (an extra ref in the booth), there should also be a squad of refs/experts available for a rule interpretation. Wire in the refs on the field, allow the booth ref to conference them with the league office, and they can all come to an agreement. The rules should never need to be guessed at. I'd also suggest that the refs on the field get an iPad-type device so they can see the replays right where they are while engaging in the discussion.
