I just remember he didn't have shit on offense.
They had a good offensive line, an average rushing attack. Vance Johnson and Mark Jackson, and Clarence Kay were not at all bad targets in the passing game.

The Broncs had a very good QB, a good to great defense, and were pretty much average on the rest of the field in that era. In the AFC west at the time, it was usually enough to win 11-12 games and get into the playoffs. If Earnest Byner doesn't fumble on the goal line, and then they got the 8-7 SD Chargers in the 87 AFC championship tilt, there's 2 less SB's they even get to, let alone get demolished in.
