N.O. was one of the poorest if not THE poorest cities in America. What does the tourism do for the majority of the people there? Nothing. What does reopening the superdome do for the majoirty of the people there? Nothing And look at this statistic. 67% of the people of N.O. were African American. What 70, 80, 90% of the people in that dome were white? You tell me how the people directly affected by the levees breaking were there to see that dome reopening? They couldn't afford a bus to get out of the 9th ward. Little on a ticket to see the saints play It was a feel good story for the rest of the country and maybe a few affected by katrina. But for the majority of the people there I can't see it really helping.
