Agree with Walt. If the season was longer, they'd have to increase the roster size so you could have that dependable 6th string running back from NFL Europe ready to go.

I think they should shrink preseason, but they'd lose a lot of revenue doing that. The season is long enough. As it is many of the teams in the playoffs are there in a given year because they "avoided injuries." When the SuperBowl teams are there not because their teams are Superior, but just because they have the most "starters" left on the roster, that's when the product will actually suck. A longer season would do that.

Not to mention with all the injuries, at least there are 6 months off where these guys can rehab themselves and not miss the next year. If the season were so long, guys wouldn't be "ready by August" anymore. Already some players are rehabbing now and won't be ready a year later...
And that's why I say eliminate the pre-season and just add those four games to the regular season.
