26 year old Fred Smoot, a signing which gives us (arguably) the best CB tandem in the NFC?

29 year old Darren Sharper, a signing which gives us a huge upgrade at FS over what we had?

32 year old Pat Williams, who's regarded as one of the best run-stopping DTs in the game and is a huge upgrade over what we had?

You mean one of those guys? Or do you mean people we acquired in trades, such as

25 year old Napoleon Harris, who was only the starting MLB on a team that went to the Super Bowl his rookie season?

Or 30 year old Sam Cowart, who cost us all of a 7th round pick to acquire and is, in all likelihood, an upgrade over what we had?

Yeah. . .SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO washed up. If all of those guys were Packers, they'd be awesome, right?

It could be far worse. . .we could be signing guys like

Earl "Cleveland thought that Brian Russell was better than me" Little
Arturo "I couldn't pry my arse off the bench in Miami" Freeman
Matt "24 games on IR in the last 2 years" O'Dwyer
Adrian "Ouch, I'm hurt again!" Klemm

While losing nothing but a Pro Bowl caliber safety and 2 of the best guards in the game, all the while acting like it's no big deal and that we're still some sort of great team. That would be worse.
