I'm pretty sure Eckel has to fulfill his commitment immediately after he graduates. Does anyone know how this will affect his draft rights? Will the team that drafts him retain his rights during his service or not? I know if a rookie holds out his name is re-entered into the draft the next year, but I'm not sure if this situation is treated the same.

With Staubach and McCallum, the drafting team held his rights until he was able to play. But that was forty and twenty years ago, respectively, so who knows what the rules are now?

I doubt it changed, so probablly the drafting team can hold his rights until he's served.
