Olympic Wrestler and Coach, Lee Allen Dies
Former Half Moon Bay High School assistant wrestling coach Lee Allen died Monday of congestive heart failure. The former Olympian was 77.
Allen was a wrestling coach at the school where his daughters, Sara Fulp-Allen and Katherine Fulp-Allen, attended the school.
The two girls helped with the growth and development of girls wrestling, winning many tournaments.
The El Granada resident was a member of several halls of fame, including the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame, the California Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Skyline College Hall of Fame.
Allen was a two-time Olympian. His chance to coach the 1980 Olympics was denied as a result of the U.S.-led boycott of the Olympics held in Moscow.
He coached four other U.S. Greco-Roman World teams.
