And in the end, you DID get what you paid for. You have a puppy you are happy with. You are going to neuter him anyway according to some of your other posts, so what's the difference? A dog with the greatest pedigree in the world can be a flop. A dog with an unknown pedigree can be fabulous.
I agree that an unknown dog can be just as good a dog as any "pedigreed" dog.

But, papers DO often make a difference, whether the dog is a flop or fabulous. What's interesting -- to many of us -- is the HISTORY behind that flop or fabulous dog!

Dogs and dog discussion today, whether you agree with it or not, is based on breeds and the purebred dog model -- whether you agree with the whole purebred dog thing or not. And that whole model is based on and exists because of the PEDIGREE! It's fairly natural, I believe, to want to know that history.

I encourage people to always GET the pedigree if they are at all interested in the BREED and went to a breeder for a dog; and I always tell them to RUN from any breeder that charges more FOR papers; AND that papers are NO guarantee of the future quality of an individual dog.
