Anytime an aspect of my game falters for a few rounds, my confidence goes with it until a good round or range session builds it back up again. I played with a slice/horrendous slice for years before taking lessons and finally seeing what the course is like from the fairway. My confidence improved immensely though sometimes I get a little worried on a dog leg left. Oddly, the same does not go for chipping and putting. If I do poorly, I usually stay confident that if i focus more and pay more attention to the shots I will be ok.
