You can bet if a death occurs because of clinics not even following basic sterile conditions, that this is just the opening the FDA would love to have to clamp down on clinics doing any kind of stem cell therapy. I don't condone such sloppy, unsafe practice, but everyday patients are killed from being given the wrong medicines, wrong dosages, wrong diagnosis, surgeries not performed correctly, etc., but you can bet that one incident at a stem cell clinic would have the FDA make us think the world is coming to an end.
These doctors need to wise up and not take short cuts that could possibly jeopardize a patient's health, but also the health of the stem cell industry which has been struggling to prove that treatments work and are safe. A few bad apples could spoil the whole darn bunch as the saying goes. As patients, we need to ask about the safety of the therapy so these "in it for the quick bucks" reckless doctors don't get our business.
