I wrote out a long post about this topic this morning. Then I hit the wrong key and it all went away. I'll try again.

I remember there being a 2 cars per owner maximum. That's why Papa Joe was listed as owner of the 25, Geoff Smith and one of Roush's relatives were listed as owners of 2 of Roush's cars.
Martin is owner of Kenseth's car. Gordon is owner of Johnson's car.

Nascar should have just enforced the 2 car rule. There was a time when they were worried about having short fields a few years ago, and actually paid people to come and race. These cars would usually wreck, blow up, or pull into the pits before the 50 lap mark. I guess that's why they quit enforcing the 2 car rule.

Now sponsorship is booming again so they want to level the playing field. The teams like Roush and Hendrick seem to share sponsorship dollars within their organization. If I was the sponsor of the worst car on the team, I'd be pissed. On the other hand, if I was the sponsor of a car getting 15 million, and knew it was being shared with another team whose sponsor was spending 10 million, I'd be pissed.

All of Roush's cars are competitive. Hendrick used to be the worst about having the R&D car. First it was poor Ricky Craven, then poor old Terry Labonte. All so wonderboy could win. Now it's Kyle Busch, but he seems to be outsmarting them.
