Music or concerts that suprised you
This might be a repeat of something I posted before.
If so then screw ya
Back in the late 70's and early 80's I was pretty adventurous. I would go to concerts by myself in some places that lets say it was not wise to do so alone.
Back around 1980 give or take a year I really liked the music that Iggy Pop had done with David Bowie. I went to 3 concerts. One was with others and it had a sizable crowd. Another was at an ice rink that maybe had 500 or so that it could seat.
The best one though was at a little dinky night club. Just your average bar but a tad bigger to allow music and dancing. Now this place was not where one should go let alone go alone. But the allure was too great. I think at best it might have accommodated 200 people give or take.
The place was packed. I had a Trans Am and parked it on the main street a couple blocks away. Ah yes the stupidity of youth. But the car was there went I went back to it.
Anyhow at this concert he played a song at or near the end that was something that blew me away. Ok, so a couple a beers and a joint did not hurt either.
I knew this song. It was an old classic. It drove me nuts for years trying to figure out what it was and then to find his version of it. I was watching a movie where Ray Liotta played Sinatra and they used this in the closing credits. It was a Sinatra classic.
I know that I have bored the shit out of any who read this thus far but this video of Iggy doing it does not do justice to just how good he did it. This clip is almost identical to the bar I saw him perform the song in.
Carry on.. I be bored and sick with a cold.
Ignore this if you hate Iggy.
I did not like his old music but after 1980 or so became a fan of many of his songs.
plus his roots are in the area
