Achieving my Fitness Goals Through a Friendly Rival
This may seem a bit shallow, but it works.
We all know that superfit guy/gal we see at events throughout the year. The guy that always wears a muscle tee at the annual BBQ, or
the girl who always fits perfectly into her slinky little dress at the formal family affairs.
Why not use a bit of that envy/inspiration to achieve success. Secretly target that person as your rival.
Every year we have a BBQ. Ted who is about 10 years younger than I, has always had an amazing physique. There is a gym in his building
and he trains nearly everyday. I decided I am going to have a better physique than Ted, if it's the last thing I do. As a result I can pretty
much thank Ted for most of the gains I have made.
I have so far not been able to best him and it's been a few years. Of course I have never said anything to him about any kind of rivalry. He is
a hell of a nice guy, and we talk weightlifting, bikes, women, and beers often. But the rivalry... It's something I keep to myself.
I've erased the excuses for him training more than I, one by one over the years, and now have a full gym set up at Home.
So far this is about the closest I have come to being the baddest looking dad at the BBQ.

That was taken a couple Summers ago. Last Summer I was way off track, drinking more beer than training. I was a bit embarrassed at our BBQ last Summer.
I found myself making excuses for not training even though I have a full gym in my home.
However, this Summer's fast approaching and look out! This old dude still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Grey hairs or not, It's my goal to surpass my rival,
and be the baddest dad at the BBQ!
