I am starting my first round tomorrow and the nurse today told me to inject into the top side of my thigh about 3 to 6 inches up from the top of the knee. I thought these injections would be subQ but the way she described it, after reading some of the posts here, I'm wondering if they are IM. Mine are .2ml and the needle is about .5", maybe a little bit longer. The nurse said to sit down near the front edge of a chair and be on the ball of your feet so that makes the thigh muscle more prominent. She said to NOT pinch the skin but rather to place the thumb and pointer finger together and then place them on the top of the skin, and then separate the thumb and pointer finger (so basically rubbing the skin while making it taut/tight), then inject into that taut area that is between the thumb and pointer finger. This method makes me think my injections are IM but I thought a half-inch needle would be too short to enter a muscle.

Any input would be greatly appreciated since I begin in the morning! I would prefer to inject into stomach but she was adamant that thigh is ONLY area to use. Upon reading the documents more closely once arriving home, her instruction/information doesn't totally match on other points as well. Can I inject other places? Will my results be better if injected into thigh? What tells you if an injection is IM or SubQ?

Thanks a bunch!
