Mine have mostly been named before I got them. My sister's cat is the only exception I can think of currently, which she got as a kitten and named Neko (meaning cat). When I was younger, I wasn't allowed to name the outside cats we had, but we always ended up sort of naming them anyway, so they'd have silly names like Big Kitty, Tupperware (she got her head stuck in a tupperware lid), and Carrot.
