I do not have much of a problem with the death penalty, if you get the right guy.
But, FS, I don't buy the jury being overly bright or getting things right all that much.
Check out that innocence project site and some others and you will see that lots of folks get falsely convicted. Even if it is 5% , that means about 20,0000 folks are doing time for crimes they did not commit.
This is unavoidable, I guess. But, at least they are still breathing with the hope of exoneration. That is all gone if you execute the innocent.
