Your coworkers are right. If you want to follow the Atkins diet, you have to it right in order to lose weight in a healthy manner. That means including nutritionally-dense vegetables in your diet. What you are doing at the nmoment is NOT Atkins!!

Have you read Dr Atkins' book?
