Unfortunately, since 9/11, the primary concern I have is security with respect to porous borders, thus my major concern with illegal immigration. There is a lag between the time that Mexico (and Canada) secure their borders to the level that we do (per NAFTA) and North America reaps the benefits that those who drafted NAFTA envision. In the interim, I believe we need to take more of a hard-ball approach to understanding exacly who is within our borders. Enabling non-documented aliens by offering credit does nothing to ensure security at this point. Bank of America should have waited before taking this move. I suspect they also did not take into consideration the probable Boycott many Americans may practice when making this business decision. Good thing this broke in the news before I changed banks (I was in the process of changing my bank to BoA, not gonna happen, now).
