I hate to say this, but this is just good business sense. Perhaps the idea of what they are doing is questionable, but it makes sense nonetheless.

Absolutely it's good business. If I was a banker I might do the same thing. What's bad is politicians who pretend to care about illegal immigration but will not address the reason for that immigration. Namely the businesses who profit by employing illegals or providing them services.
