Rendell may not be any worse, but he’s certainly no better. If he can get PennDOT to pull their collective heads out of their asses, I may reconsider.
He has actually been one of the first guvs in awhile who has tried to cut down the size of PennDOT. PennDOT staff hate him for that. But beaurocracies being what they are, the beaurocrats are trying to prevent any cuts and alternatively put the burden of the budget and job cuts off on either the public works and/or the working people who we need to fix the potholes, etc. Entrenched beaurocrats who are often useless red tape make others the fall guy to protect their perk laden guaranteed slow motion jobs. If he is to succeed or anyone else, they have to go right for the network itself and given beaurocracies bite back hard and nasty intrapolitically when threatened, he or anyone else will need full state Congressional backing and public vocal support.
