Sadly, I agree with most of what you have said. The Republicans and Democrats have morphed into one gigantic party that loves pork. The Libertarians are good at one thing - losing elections. My strategy going forward will be to vote for divided gov't.
That (divided government) is pretty much what sways my vote these days. To me, the ideal state of affairs (given our two-party system) is a Democrat POTUS and a Republican congress. I prefer to have Republicans proposing legislation, but with a Dem POTUS, anything too kooky will get vetoed. I also think that it's generally preferable for our system of checks and balances to be working full force - it seems that the less the government accomplishes, the better. Doesn't it warm your heart that 30% of your income going to accomplish nothing is better than 30% of your income going to whatever they might do, unchecked?
