The people in the planes on 9/11 were not cowards. The whole notion before 9/11 in hijack situations were to do as told. The hijackers showed they meant business by killing a member or two of the crew. The purpose of this was to quell the thinking of any would-be hero. Give them what they want, and when the plane lands try to talk them out or kill them. That was pretty much the plan pre-9/11.

Nowadays you have to be dumb to try and hijack a plane. You may just get hot water on your crotch!
