Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the pipeline a private enterprise, owned/run by Alyeska? If so, what they do with it, including clogging it with chunks of metal, is their business. Or out-of-business if they make too many stupid mistakes. Similarly, they have private agreements with BP about transporting oil, anti-corrosion chemicals, and water. (That last probably being a prohibition of some sort.) So while these factoids may be of interest, and even have an impact on the economy of Alaska and possibly even national security, they are primarily matters more of contract law than of public debate. If the allegations are true, Woolam is out of a job and probably open to lawsuits and/or arrest on complaints from BP, BP is open to contractual fines and/or lawsuits from Alyeska, and there's no need for us to have a cow. (Or a scraping pig!)
