While for the first time Bush actually went into some detail about why he feels the way he does about Iraq, it was too little too late. The majority of Americans already distrust him, and his efforts last night aren't really going to make much of a difference in this area.
As for his domestic agenda the insurance sceme is DOA. It has been suggested before and Congress has always been unwilling to mess with the middles classes insurance programs. Personally I think that the people who have to get their own insurance should be able to take a tax deduction equal to what those of us that get company sponsored programs get, but it shouldn't be the company sponsored programs that pay for it. I will hold final judgement until I see the fine print on the plan.
No child left behind? He would actually have more credibility had he actually funded the program. Right now all I see is a federally unfunded mandate. I thought conservatives were against that.
Energy. Didn't hear much new here except for the fact that there may be some movement on fuel economy standards. Personally I think making it a standard by class of vehicle rather than one for all vehicles makes more sense anyway, as long as the requirements are meaningfull.
The one thing he did say that I was suprised at was refering to Global Climate Change. Now that is a long way from saying we are responsible for it, but taken in context with some of his other comments this is about as close as we will ever get him to admit that.
