Well, I agree with you about the "if" clause. If people were attacked for singing the star spangled banner (which I doubt) then it would, in fact, be a political message, and a very ugly one.

The political message isn't the act as much as how the local govn addresses the act. In this case the police have done absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. And when you look at how Pelosi's voted in regards to juvenile crime it's easy to see why.
