Call me old-fashioned, but I would have ruled that Nixon should have been able to keep his tapes private, as well.
Whatever Nixon did in the privacy of his own home is one thing. What he did in the White House as my employee is completely different. Same holds true for every other person that we have entrusted to lead our nation. Coming from a president whose integrity is being questioned on a nearly daily basis, I would expect he'd have the common sense to show a little transparency, unless he really has got something to hide..
