No amount of drilling started today will have any effect on oil production for a minimum of a decade and that's if they do not spring another leak that devastates the livelihoods of millions and utterly destroys a local economy. In that same time, things will have gotten far worse. The time to begin the transition to alternative energy is now. This is where I want to see my tax dollars spent and where I want to see substantial policy shifts. We also need to deflate the massive amount of power the big oil companies have over our country. No one entity should have the power they have and it needs to be tamped down.
First. You know what, they have been saying that for 50 years. Exact same old line.

Second. "the time to begin the transition to alternative energy is now" and just do how do you propose to do that? This should be interesting.

Do you know, all this windmill and solar does not save us one drop of oil. Did you not further know most all our power plants are fired by coal or natural gas, not oil. If you think for a second solar and wind is going to power our ships, trains, planes, heavy trucks, light trucks, SUV' military equipment, autos, factories, etc etc. that is naive. So providing more electricity is not saving us a drop of oil. So please now come forth and provide your plan to transition to alternative energy now, and just what alternative energy is going to replace oil?
