so I assume this is a neighbor that shot it, and it ran onto your land and died?
Do you give your neighbors permission to come onto your land to get their game?

Where I used to hunt deer, there was one neighbor that owned 100 acres (we hunted on 150) that bordered the property. We not only didn't have permission, we had explicit instructions that we were NOT allowed on her property to hunt or even retrieve wounded game that went onto that property. I hit a deer (which I know was a lung shot from the blood trail...frothy with air in it) with a muzzle loader. The deer ran PAST me (had my back to the property we weren't allowed on) and onto that property. I was already told I WAS NOT allowed on that property so I did not retrieve the dead animal. I respected the property owners instructions and rights to their own property and a wasted animal was the result of their wishes. Do you have such restrictions?

Most deer do not die on the spot, especially with bows, muzzle loaders, and anything other then a powerful center fire rifle.
