Masonic handshake?
very astute observation. Many people could have experienced one of those without realising. Because, unless your are a politician, lawyer or ranking police officer you aren't going to know if the other person is a brother or not. So you just have to try it on and see if the other person plays the same tune.

I would really like to know the content of the conversation had during that shake. It was lengthy and I expect of a very serious nature......

It could also have been something along the lines of "My Johnnys team is going to beat your Timmys' team in the school inters next friday". Short discussion about how many tries they win by. Then followed with "I bet you a fiver they don't". You're on. For a fiver.
