I don't think we are equating wanting things with covetousness. We are equating wanting other people's things with covetousness. You know, "the grass is always greener...".
funny, but I didn't see "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's green grass...." listed in the Deut. 5:21 quoted portion in your open post....did I miss something? No green grass here, only insatiably thirsty for water grass at my place. Water rationing and all, y'know.
