The Pope is called 'the Vicar of Christ' and is regarded in the Catholic Church as the ONLY 'intermediary'* THROUGH WHICH ONE can get through to Jesus Christ. (*as if an 'intermediary' is required lol)

Kindly show me the authority within Scripture for this situation. TIA

My comprehension that it isn't Jesus Christ but God they claim to be the Vicar to. From what I thought I knew, was that Catholicism was comitted to the extermination of the Christians, ignored the New Testament and worshipped Mother Mary to the total exclusion of JC.

I also thought the Catholic Church came into being sometime in the 1300's. That would make them not founded by JC. I think it was Paul wasn't it who did the whole Church thing..... sometime long after JC was sorted out.
