Ok, explain to my non-american ignorance why would you want to buy canned food.
Except maybe green peas, or except maybe in rare instances when fresh is not available.

some are not readily able to do their own preserves, and still wish to have preps on hand. with an average of 3 days until the grocery stores are empty (in a SHTF scenario,) you should have a good 3 month supply of food for every member of your household (at least).

it may not be the best quality food, but you still have to eat.
