Chinese bridge worker impaled by steel spikes after machine spits metal bars out at high speed at the wrong time

A worker in China had to be freed from a cluster of metal bars after a 'machine malfunction'.
Zheng, a bridge constructor, got impaled on the spikes in Taizhou, eastern China's Zhejiang Province.
He was working on a new bridge when a rotating machine filled with metal bars spat them out at high speed.

Zheng is treated in hospital after becoming impaled on metal bars

Firefighters had to chop the protruding metal poles from his back

Incredibly he survived despite the spears going right through his body and out of his left shoulder.
He went to a local hospital for initial treatment but had to be moved twice before doctors qualified enough to deal with the nature of his injuries.

They then had to enlist the help of firefighters to trim the length of bars protruding from Zheng's back.
He was then taken into surgery to have the bars removed fully and is now under close observation.
