Really, as if standing at the front door saying hi is a useful position?

From my POV, it worse than useless... I don't want anyone talking to me at Walmart. If I need to go there for some reason, I don't need to be greeted at the door. I jut want to go in, get what I came for, complete the transaction ASAP, and GTFO.

To me, greeters are there as an anti-shrink component, not as PR.
