Having spent time in Colombia over the last 10 years or so, I can say one thing with certainty, Bogota is a $hit hole, while Medellin is something much closer to a decent modern city. The people that governed Bogota ran it into the ground over the last 50 yrs. They have train tracks but no trains have run there for over 40 yrs. The politico's made money off private bus lines instead. And there is nothing in Bogota that resembles a modern highway. Meanwhile Medellin might have the cleanest mass transit system in the world. There is still a lot of poverty in Medellin, but Bogota is far worse.
