I imagine there are a few cities in Michigan that vanished......shipped to China.
Such a town is just south of me. The ruins of Marlborough in Lake County, Michigan are a fascinating place to explore. Back in the day, they used to mine marl from beneath and around the lake there. Marl is a lime deposit that forms in swampy conditions over millenia and can be used to make cement.

I've spent a few enjoyable days prowling the ruins.
