Yep Dogman. I guess I am "one of the younger ones." but I feel the same way that you and Tumbleweed do. Or I did at least. I used to talk to my friends and even some ex gfs about things, and always got the same non-responses. I used to have websites and write articles, attempting to ignite embers among the damp brush. I now just focus on my immediate family, even though I get the same. I whole heardedly agree that people are too wrapped up living in the "now". I find that infuriating because the ability to look to and plan the future (as well as acutely remember the past) is what separates us from other animals. People are becoming increasingly "animal like" in this regard, and social engineering has a lot to do with that I believe.

Unfortunately growing up in the 90's I can't really remember "how things were" because to me this is how it has been for the most part. I've learned to just deal with it. Others have all of the tools necessary to see things more like how they are, but refuse to do so. Material things, instant gratification, and comfort, (in all three senses, physical, mental, and emotional) top their priorities list. There are so many angles by which one can see the truth that it is hidden in plain sight. It's like there is a large treasure out in the open and around it lays scattered pocket change. People are content to take the change and leave, or just pass it up not knowing of the truth that lays beckoning.

I have become more apathetic. Maybe not apathetic, but dormant, in hibernation. Like a dormant volcano or hibernating grizzly I am ready to become active when the time comes.
