Yeah, as far as I've seen, though I only checked two sources. Apparently even back in the late 1800's writers were getting the race card pulled on them. He was lambasted over that piece for insinuating that Jews weren't typically as patriotic as others.
And to think it was 50 years before the creation of the state of Misrael.
